If you haven’t noticed yet, we kind of like Christmas! Decorating our house for the Holidays and seeing the happiness, joy and memories it brings to everyone has become an inspiration year after year.
We have been synchronizing our Christmas lights to ‘dance’ to Christmas songs for the past 13 years now. Each year we try and change the display a little bit here and there. We try to add more lights, displays and a few songs each year, but in the past few years we have pretty much only been adding songs and replacing all the incondescent lights with LEDs. Only the C7 multi colored bulbs around the parameter of the house are not LED or RGB. Not only is our electric bill much less with the LEDs and RGB, but our display is twice as bright. We try to not obstruct your view of the CCR tree by placing any of the display items in front of it, which reduces the amount of space in the yard we can use for the display. In 2014, we moved the CCR tree to the West side of our yard in order to add more lights back into the display. Even though the CCR tree may have reduced the amount of bulbs we now use, I strongly believe our display is even brighter than it has ever been.
Our house won 1st place in the Channahon Christmas Decorating contest last year (2017). “Thank You!!”, to those who voted for us. Unfortunately, when you win 1st place, you cant enter the contest the next year, but we will be back in the contest in 2019. Our house has also been featured in the Herald News newspaper and the channel 7 news. Videos of our lights in action are being posted on YouTube and Facebook by many of you, thank you for doing that!
Like every year, this year’s setup had some unfortunate electrical problems, rabbit issues and people physical issues (me). Electrical problems are always there every year. The rabbits, for some unknown reason, like to chew (snip) only my low voltage wires and I have tried multiple ways to stop them, but with no luck. Many of you noticed that I didnt get my display up and running this year until the second week of December. Well….back in September I had rotator cuff surgery. I was hoping to be healed enough to put my Halloween display out before the end of October and then start on my Christmas display mid to late November, but things didnt go as planned. We will just say.. I had a freak accident which caused a new tear and I was not able to place many of my roof display items on the roof like I normally do. So I displayed what I could, where I could. Sorry it took me longer than usual!
My quest to convert to ALL LEDs is almost completed. Only part of my display that doesnt have LEDs yet are the 16 small 2ft multi colored trees. I should have these converted for the 2019 display.
If you haven’t seen the show, please bring the family and friends, and enjoy. When you get here, park in the cul-de-sac, tune your car radio to 106.9 FM, turn up the volume and kick back. You can even sing along if you want J. The show is about 2 hours and 15 minutes long this year and I usually have the newly added songs near the beginning of the show. The songs will be played in the order listed in the Videos link. Once the last song completes, the show will start over with intro. After you have seen the show, please come back to the web site and sign our “Guest book” and let us know what you thought of the show. Finding us is very easy, just follow the directions in our “Where are we” link. We do ask that you please respect our neighbors and not block their driveways if possible. If there is no room and you have to block a drive, please allow them to enter or leave their drive as needed. If we didn’t have such great neighbors, the show couldn’t continue…Also….after visiting our house, take a drive around the neighborhood and see just how much holiday spirit the subdivision has, it’s awesome!
Please shoot us an email and tell us a little about yourselves and share your stories of our light show. We will then post your story on the website within the “Stories” link.
We would like to thank everyone for the nice compliments, emails, cards, letters and for coming by to watch the show. Knowing how our light show touches everyone, from kids to adults, certainly makes it worth the time and effort to put up the display. Also, thank you for telling friends and family members about the show. We have been told by many, that coming to see our lights dance to the Christmas music has become part of family traditions and they look forward to it every year. Hearing that our show brings out the Christmas spirit and has created memories for so many, makes us feel like we really have given a gift to everyone….
If you can’t make it, you can view what you have been missing through our “Videos” link. I am currently working on getting videos of this years show uploaded and hope to have the website updated soon.
Hope you enjoy the show and Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

A Christmas Enthusiast Prayer (I did not write this, I found it on the internet)
As I untangle strings of Christmas lights, Lord help me to remember that I do this first to honor You. Never let me get so prideful of my display that I fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child or the joy on the faces of those who are still children at heart. Never let me forget that my total effort is to make Christmas memories, bring cheer and to slow down the pace of a hectic season if only for a moment. And Lord, someday when I meet you face to face, I hope to hear you say:
“When you made my people smile, you made me smile.”
